Cupcakes VS Muffins

Mix Fruit Muffins
Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake

My two dear friends also excited with my new Oven. hihihi

We try out this Muffins & Cupcakes last weekend. The outcome was GOOD.

& We been questioning among us, what is the different between Cupcakes & Muffins.

I already got the answer long time ago, when i get this Q from my hubby.

This is what i got/know : –

  • A cupcakes is essentially the same as a whole cake.
  • It is simple baked and served .
  • It is usually frosted and decorated.
  • It is sweet and hence eaten mostly as a dessert or a sweet treat.
  • An un-frosted cupcakes doesn’t not equate to a muffins
  • Butter is usually used in a cupcake recipe
  • CONCLUSION : A Cupcake is a CAKE

  • A muffin is one of the easiest things to bake.
  • It is simple mixing the wet & dry ingredients together and some recipes do not even require the use of an electronic beater or whisk.
  • It can be frosted or not frosted.
  • For fruit muffins, to use a crumble on top.
  • It can be sweet or savoury and is mostly eatan durig breakfest or tea.
  • A frosted muffin does not equate to a cupcake
  • oil is usually used in a muffin recipe
  • CONCLUSION: A Muffin is a type of bread (Quick Bread)

An info from this blog :

An Excellent formulaic definition of the difference courtesy of Diana’s Desserts:

‘A basic formula for muffins is 2 cups flour, 2-4 tablespoons sugar,

2½ teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 egg, ¼ cup oil,

shortening or butter and 1 cup milk.

When the fat, sugar and egg ratio in a recipe reaches double or more than this,

you have reached the cake level.

Another cake i tried , a Carrot Cake….

( i not really fancy about this carrot cake, mayb too much cinnamon ground i added)

Last, i had a good baking session especially with my 2 friends,

We laugh , we chat, we try, we eat, we wash …

more joyous & more fun. Who wanna join me ??? 🙂
